A warm welcome to you and thank you for visiting our website.
I would like to introduce myself as the founding Principal of Sri KDU International School, Klang.
I am a passionate and determined educationalist, who has spent my entire career striving to improve the teaching and learning experience for children in my care. A bold statement but nevertheless true. I spent 26 years, 23 of those years in the UK, learning my trade as a teacher, middle and senior leader and gaining my headship qualification, throughout that time I have always put the child at the heart of my every action and decision. When not in teaching, I kept true to my core ideal by training teachers or overseeing their training to ensure that they were outstanding holistic practitioners.
I am here at Sri KDU to establish and lead a school still driven by this ideal.
As educators, we need to understand the needs of the learner and satisfy those needs, by looking into the future asking ourselves what knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to develop to ensure that they are successful in the 21st Century. The world is changing quickly, the fourth industrial revolution is here. The digital world has become a part of our daily lives and will continue to impact our learning and future careers as digital technology advances. Current research indicates that the emphasis on retaining information will decrease as information is now widely available to everyone on the Internet, boundaries will blur between the physical, digital, and biological worlds. As such, Sri KDU, Klang will support students to develop skills to enable them to adapt to change and be successful in such a world and in any career path, namely:
- A knowledge of technology, digital tools and platforms to source information and deliver self-directed learning opportunities.
- Social-emotion skills to enable successful collaboration, a greater understanding of oneself, and how to achieve personal growth.
- An understanding of the current world and likely futures and what we can contribute to that world in terms of innovation, creativity, economic growth and social change.
- Cognitive skills to support learning to include problem-solving, meta-cognition
- To be able to communicate skilfully and confidently in any medium.
- To be able to lead others and champion a positive mind-set in the use, understanding or innovation of the digital world.
With the above in mind, I am very excited that the school is the 1st Microsoft Flagship in South East Asia and a Microsoft Showcase School. The flagship programme supported schools to define education to meet the needs of learners now and in the future by Designing: modern teaching and learning, Developing: connections to others and lifelong learning and Delivering: new places to learn, support visionary leadership and confident students.
As such, we will utilise digital technology be that digital tools, resources and technologies to promote, enhance, capture and test learning across the school.
Students will leave the school as Digital Leaders, embracing, managing and leveraging technology to drive new innovations, initiate transformation and lead effectively. Thus becoming digital learners in their chosen industry. They will be confident in their understanding and use of the digital world to enhance their daily lives, careers and as a platform to share their creativity and drive their learning and by doing so will have met our learning charter. They will have the necessary social-emotional, cognitive learning and leadership skills to collaborate, innovate and problem-solve to support academic success and future life choices. All students will communicate skilfully to share knowledge and express their ideas in any medium in multiple languages. The school will be a vibrant community offering high–quality holistic learning with opportunities for students to develop and showcase their achievements and talents and develop as individuals ready to take on the challenges of life in the 21st Century.
My wish for this website is that it will become one source of truth. We will be transparent about what we offer in terms of educating your child. The information given will then enable parents to make an informed decision as to whether we are the right school for your child. We hope to work alongside the families of Klang and beyond to create the foremost digital school in Malaysia.
Ms. April Peters
